GREEN DOT SYSTEMS, INC.
MEDICAL PRODUCTS FOR LIFE
Solution: Our “Shock cord” is a modular, multi-port, multi-purpose, filtered (175 MICRON) I.V. system, designed for use in austere environments. The overall length of the system has been shortened to accommodate standard military litter systems and avoids excess slack in the line. The “Shock Cord” comes standard with the necessary extensions to run most in line heater systems. (See Attachments 2 and 3).
The 3 primary uses in the field:
Administer fluids: Combat medics will be able to push any volume expansion fluids with in their protocols, thru the y set lines.
Administer Blood products: Advanced medical practitioners will be able to administer the full spectrum of blood products thru the 175 micron filtered drip chamber. The system features a standard Y-type admin set with dual spike ports.
Combat sedation and Total IV anesthesia (TIVA): the 3 way stop cock and 2 or 3 port in-line connections, provide multiple drugs ports for fast access and connections in a patent line for the full gambit of pharmaceutical emergency medicine.
Conclusion: The “Shock Cords”, are assembled in the USA in our FDA approved facilities, and are sterile in the package. Our system is off the shelf ready, has an FDA 510K, and requires no additional testing for use in the field today, it's ready to deploy. The cord can also be reconfigured to fit specific needs, and be modified in the field with plug and play connections, offering our medical providers greater flexibility, with fewer resources. Generation 1 units are equipped with dual in line ports, but we have upgraded to 2 and 3 port manifolds (generation 2), for easier use in the clinical settings.
The “Shock Cord” IV system is capable of supporting first responders and advanced practitioners. This will streamline the transition during echelons of care when time and resources are scarce. With the “Shock cord”, a CRNA can confirm the patency of a line that was placed in the field, and jump right into drug therapy. Overall, the multiuse approach to the shock cords offers long term savings to health care logisticians supporting austere areas. The Shock cords versatility ensures greater use of stock piled supplies, and reduces waste by servicing more than one intended use.

The “Shock Cord”
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Medicine in the field is by default an extension of the care provided in the ER. This applies to all aspects of medicine, and current methodology rightly teaches our medics to be as non-evasive as possible. The echeloned approach is great in the clinical setting, however in austere environments, it often times creates a logistics and time burden for the first responder. For example, a combat medic in the field will attach a saline lock (or other similar device) on scene, followed by a standard IV line when it’s time to push fluids. This same patient, at the next echelon of care may receive blood and the medical team is now switching lines etc… For the advanced providers such as SOF medics and PAs or battalion aid stations, blood and drug administration will be done all at once. These advanced treatments may require up to 3 different IV lines, and the switching system after system runs the chance of losing a patent line, wastes precious supplies, and adds time to the overall medical effort.
This approach also creates waste with in medical supply systems as a whole. Logisticians are required to stock 3 different line systems with a variety of accessories, to support common procedures done in the field. If only one of the lines is used, the two other systems sit on the shelf. Having one system that accommodates the 3 common lifesaving procedures by default reduces wastes as the entire stock pile in theater would be more effectively used thru versatility.
